How does this program compare to a health informatics program?

Simply put, the MSQM: Health Analytics program picks up where informatics leaves off. The focus of this program is on deriving valuable insight from data and using data for decision making.

Health informatics programs typically offer coursework focused on the intersection of healthcare and information technology; our health analytics program is about analyzing healthcare data using latest quantitative techniques with a focus on deriving actionable insights. As a result, our curriculum provides a unique blend of health, business and analytics coursework.

What career opportunities are available to people with a health analytics background?

Health analytics is a dynamic and growing field, and the potential career opportunities will vary based on the rest of your background. Previous applicants have come into the program from a wide range of backgrounds and with different goals, including seasoned professionals and leaders who want to make analytics a more mature function within their businesses as well as healthcare employees who want to gain sophisticated analytics skills to advance within their organizations.

What does the program do to keep students connected with Fuqua and Duke despite being an online program?

We pride ourselves on offering a high-touch online learning environment. This is achieved by facilitating authentic interactions between peers, focusing on collaboration and strategically structuring collaborative groups to ensure that you gain exposure to a wide range of perspectives and from many different backgrounds.

Our IT support team members gain access to the courses and follow progress along with you. They get to know our students by name, and they’re familiar with the individual technology challenges that you might face.

In addition to the support you gain as a student, we commit to supporting your long-term career and education goals. For example, we offer a range of career services to students and alumni to ensure they are in the best position to succeed and that they have opportunities to translate their personal values into rewarding careers.
