International Programs Office

Studying abroad not only deepens the understanding of each person’s responsibility as a global citizen, it also provides the kind of international profile valued in today’s interconnected business environment. The two most popular ways for Fuqua students to earn credit while seeing the world are Exchange (taking classes at a partner institution) and GATE (Global Academic Travel Experience--Fuqua classes that include a travel component).

Exchange

Exchange programs offer an immersive experience which builds on the solid foundations gained at Fuqua. The exchange opportunities at Fuqua have been crafted to allow for a customizable international experience to help you succeed in both your personal and professional ambitions with no additional tuition charges.

Fuqua is a member of the Partnership in International Management (PIM) Network, through which we partner with 40 of the top business schools around the world (in Africa, Asia/Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and South America). Exchange programs are offered each semester as well as during the winter, spring and summer breaks and vary in length from one week special topics courses to one full semester of study.

GATE

Global Academic Travel Experience (GATE) courses are 3-credit experiential electives in international business taught by Fuqua faculty that specialize in a particular region. Students study the business, culture, economy, and politics of a country or region for 1 term before traveling to the area studied for approximately 2 weeks. During the in-country portion of the course, students visit a variety of businesses, both local and multinational, across a range of industries, to gain a deeper sense of how to do business in the region. In addition, the trips include cultural and heritage tours, group dinners, and adventurous excursions such as game drives in South Africa and climbing Machu Picchu in Peru.
