Malvinder Singh is an entrepreneur with significant business interests in the health care, financial services and insurance sectors.
Singh is Executive Chairman of Fortis Healthcare, a leading health care player in the pan Asia Pacific region. In line with his strategy of creating the world’s first multi-country integrated health care delivery model, he transformed Fortis from an Indian company to the market leader in multiple health care verticals in Asia Pacific.
In the financial services and insurance sectors, Singh has business interests through Religare Enterprises. As Chairman of Religare, Singh helped evolve the company's strategy of creating an integrated financial services organization in India, a global asset management platform and an emerging market-focused investment bank. In a precedent-setting move by a majority shareholder, Singh stepped down as Chairman in 2010 demonstrating his belief of segregating ownership and management and his confidence in the company's leadership team.
Previously, Singh was Chairman, Managing Director and CEO of Ranbaxy Laboratories. He spearheaded the merger of Ranbaxy and Daiichi Sankyo, to create the world’s fifteenth largest pharmaceutical company.
Singh earned his MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, and is a member of the Board of Visitors at Fuqua. He is also on the Board of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), and was a member of the first batch of the Young Global Leaders initiative of the World Economic Forum.
