Bio

Ravi was born in India, raised in the United States, resident for considerable periods in Brazil, England, Germany and Singapore. He is also fluent in four languages, including German and Portuguese. Ravi is truly one of the new breed of global managers and citizens.

Ravi’s entire 25-year professional career has been spent in the investment banking industry. He has held senior positions at Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse First Boston and Bear Stearns. Best known in the industry as the head of various telecom and technology investment banking groups in both Europe and Asia, Ravi is particularly noted for his pioneering expertise in emerging market telecom privatizations and mobile license auctions, having completed landmark deals for Qatar Telecom, PT Telecom (Indonesia), MATAV (Hungary) and China Telecom.

In 2002, Ravi became the Co-founder and President of TC Capital, a pan-Asian boutique investment bank based in Singapore. TC Capital specializes in mergers and acquisitions advisory and capital market transactions for mid-cap and large-cap companies in Asia. It has grown in its 12 years to 35 bankers with regional offices in Hong Kong, Hanoi and Bombay. It is now recognized and awarded as one of the best independent investment banks in Asia and has completed numerous transactions aggregating billions of dollars.

Ravi is also active outside of TC Capital in a number of areas, including arts, education and business. In the fall of 2015, he taught a course as Adjunct Professor at the Wharton Graduate school of Business in ‘Creativity and Leadership’. Ravi also has published two case studies and is completing a third — through his affiliation with the Centre of Management Practice at Singapore Management University. He served on the Advisory Board of an Asian impact investment fund, Vantage Partners. His knowledge of the impact investment space has led to various speaking engagements at conferences, think tanks and universities. He has also served or is actively serving on a number of company boards, including Syntech Resources in Australia, a coal mining firm backed by Goldman Sachs, and Yuu Zoo, a listed Singapore-based mobile social network company. Ravi also serves on the Advisory Board of the Singapore Foundation for the Arts, a charity supporting the career development of promising Singaporean bands and musicians.

Ravi completed a BA (summa cum laude) in Political Science from Duke University and an MBA/MA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He was also a Fulbright Scholar in Political Economy at the University of Kiel in Germany. He is based in Singapore, married with one son, and carries Singapore citizenship.
