When I came to visit, I felt very welcomed. I met many students with unique backgrounds. Dean Boulding spoke about the support Duke gives to the international student community, both in and outside the classroom, which was very important to me. I also appreciated the importance given to DQ (decency quotient). I think schools should teach values like that at all levels of learning, and I am happy to be part of a community that shares that belief. I also love Fuqua’s location in Durham. It has been an adventure for me to move to North Carolina, and I have enjoyed it very much.
I worked as a paralegal for one year. While I worked in law, I realized I enjoyed the operations, management, and marketing part of the firm more than the practice of law itself, so I decided to pursue a business degree.
I plan to work in strategy consulting to learn best practices in a general scope. Ultimately, I want to join my passion for government and development with my business knowledge to work in political consulting and social impact. I also want to work alongside my country’s government using data analytics to create better social and educational policies.
My favorite professor is Inês Black. In her Principles of Strategy course, we used case studies to learn about successful and unsuccessful strategies, and she would explain in-depth the theory behind each case. Even while learning in a virtual classroom, I felt that her class was engaging, and I could participate and learn as if I were in person. I learned so much during her course, and I know that it will be useful in my future career.
