Reflections

There is something special about the Fuqua community that makes this place unique. It is an intellectual environment that transforms individuals into business leaders who want the best for society. I hope to create more value in the business community and be a responsible leader. At some point in my career, I hope to return to Africa and contribute to the continent’s growth.

Before Fuqua

I work for PepsiCo North America. Within two months of starting the Weekend Executive MBA program, I was promoted to manager, giving me broader responsibilities, now with a global scope, and the opportunity to work with more senior leaders, including C-suite executives.

After Fuqua

I plan to continue my work at PepsiCo. There were several opportunities where I applied my learnings from the program to my job. One instance was leading a cross-functional team to drive new sustainable packaging for one of our product lines. I now have a better understanding of breaking down complex business problems and communicating effectively with senior leadership.

Advice

To be successful in the program, you need the support of your partner. You need to ensure that your partner is fully aware of your schedule and willing to pick up the slack at home when you are busy with schoolwork or classes. Block out time to spend with your family. It's important because the demands of the program will take up a lot of the free time you previously had to spend with your family.
