“I have learned that everybody brings something different to the table and that listening intently and being able to utilize everybody on a team is a critical aspect of leadership. I have found myself becoming comfortable leading in an understanding and open-minded manner.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

Fuqua is filled with a remarkably talented group of diverse and successful people who are also caring, thoughtful, and genuine. When I applied to Fuqua, I had students I had never met before helping me with parts of my application and brainstorming with me on essays. It is the community that sets Fuqua apart.

5 Random Things About Me

  1. As a child, I raised a pet duckling that I named Lieutenant Dan (I was going through a Forest Gump phase).
  2. I was not allowed to have a cell phone or be on social media until I was eighteen.
  3. I started and finished each Harry Potter book on the day that it was released.
  4. I am the fourth of six children (three boys, three girls).
  5. I rejected a job offer from the CIA as a field officer because I am not a good liar. Accepting the offer meant I would have to lie to my family for the rest of my life about my career.

My Life Before Fuqua

I was an investment banking analyst at Lazard Freres; I focused on structuring and implementing bulge-bracket M&A deals across a variety of industries. I then was a venture capital associate at Sandbox Industries where I was primarily responsible for sourcing and completing diligence on Series A and Series B food/agriculture technology startups in which our firm would invest.

My Life After Fuqua

I plan to join an early-stage startup in the food industry in a strategy-focused leadership position. I am hoping to have a multi-functional role that is focused primarily on business development and go-to-market strategy. I plan on applying many of the concepts I have learned at Fuqua and during my work with Fuqua startup, BIOMILQ.

Program for Entrepreneurs (P4E)

I took entrepreneurship classes in P4E and worked with a real startup. The experience taught me how to launch a new product, fundraise, and analyze a market/opportunity—all critical skills that I will utilize in my career.

My Favorite Fuqua Club

Fuqua Hoops is a basketball club at Fuqua and is full of a bunch of fun-loving and active students. The club gets together at least twice a week for scrimmages and organizes a few weekend tournaments each year. The students in the club have become very close.
