Why I Chose Fuqua

While I was technically ready to start a career in finance, I was still intrigued to learn how different business functions beyond finance relate and create value. I felt the MMS program was right for me because of its balanced curriculum and its emphasis on team-based solutions. Through this program, I felt I could gain a more holistic understanding of business that would benefit me for the rest of my career.

Before Fuqua

I worked as a year-round analyst intern at a private equity firm. It was a tremendous learning experience, and working with incredible professionals who had completed business school motivated me to receive a similar education.

After Fuqua

Next year I will be working as a financial markets consultant at Deloitte Advisory in New York City.

5 Tips For Acing the Job Interview

  1. Prepare a list of stories that can be applied to various attributes desirable to employers, such as teamwork and leadership.
  2. Leverage the resources at the Career Management Center, especially practice interviews and coaching sessions.
  3. Use your classmates as resources, and in turn, help your classmates. It’s likely that you aren’t going for the same position at the same firm. The more you share, the better everyone, including you, will perform.
  4. Dress properly. For guys, stick with a white shirt, a simple tie, and a dark (not black) suit.
  5. Start early, and remember not to stress.

What I Love About the Distinguished Speaker Series

Each year, Fuqua brings some of the most prominent and innovative leaders in the business world to campus to speak to students. The chance to hear their stories and advice is a transformative experience. My favorite speaker was Jeff Ubben, CEO of ValueAct Capital—his speech was especially interesting to me because I have always been interested in value investing.
