Why I Chose Fuqua

As I transitioned from the Army to business school, it was important to me to join a program that emphasizes and values the same concepts of teamwork and collaboration pervasive throughout military culture. When I visited Fuqua during Blue Devil Weekend, I was introduced to a supportive, interactive, and diverse community that I knew would challenge me both personally and academically. Additionally, the program affords numerous opportunities to interact with a wide variety of industry leaders, which I felt would be critical throughout my career transition.

5 Random Things About Me

  1. I basically held hands with President Obama at a Duke Men's Basketball game.... basically.
  2. I have serious wanderlust—I’ve been to 30+ countries, but hope to make it to so many more!
  3. I am a self-proclaimed karaoke champion (I may also be tone deaf, but TBD)
  4. When I was 19, I auditioned for a spot on The Real World (boy am I glad I didn't make it!)
  5. I can list every state in alphabetical order in 15 seconds

My Life Before Fuqua

I served in the United States Army for seven years. I performed in various roles throughout my career including positions as a human resources officer, operations officer, and as a strategic advisor to a four-star commanding general. During my service, I deployed twice to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and the Resolute Support Mission.

My Life After Fuqua

I will spend my summer interning in New York City at Goldman Sachs. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a career in investment banking.

What I Love About Durham

What I love most about Durham is its geographic location. It’s a mere two-hour drive to the mountains or beaches, 15 minutes to the airport, and less than 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh. In addition to its location, Durham boasts an awesome selection of local breweries, cuisines, and outdoor activities, which have made it such a fun town to be a part of!
