Why I Chose Fuqua
As a track & field athlete, coming out of my undergraduate studies, I had extra eligibility that I could use to attend graduate school. I knew a few students in Fuqua’s MMS program and spoke with them and the admissions team about the program and experience. I received a lot of positive information about how Fuqua helps to develop a strong foundation of business skills and knowledge, and that was exactly what I was looking for in a graduate school.
Before Fuqua
Prior to joining Fuqua, I interned at a few startup companies in operations and marketing roles, and since May 2020, I work part-time as an operations associate for a marketing consulting startup company. I knew that the MMS program would strengthen my business knowledge which is important for any career path I pursue.
After Fuqua
While I am not entirely sure what career I want to pursue once I graduate, I want to do something where I can combine my problem-solving and leadership skills in an effort to help others and society. I know that Fuqua has prepared me for whichever career path I choose to follow.
5 Best Places to Eat in Durham
- Dame’s Chicken & Waffles: My personal favorite, I could eat here all day. A must try in Durham.
- Juju Durham: It’s a pricey meal but always worth it. They serve Asian fusion and tapas in small but sharable portions and every single dish they have is a hit.
- PRESS: Their specialty is crepes but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Their seasonal drinks are always very refreshing as well.
- Bull McCabe’s: All I have to say is their fries are unreal!
- Monuts: Really great breakfast and they rotate donuts and fancy coffee flavors around. Possibly the best pure breakfast spot in Durham.
What I Love About My Classmates
I am amazed every time I meet a new classmate. Many of us come from different backgrounds, cultures, and regions and are able to have fun and enjoy our business school experience together. Being from the United States, I particularly love speaking to my classmates who are international students and learning about their life, experience in Fuqua and Durham, and their goals. I’ve been able to learn a lot about the world and different cultures through these conversations and I plan to take these friendships and lessons with me into the next part of my life.
