“The diversity I’ve experienced in each of my teams has had a profound effect on the way I’ve developed and learned throughout the program. I am very grateful to have exposure to backgrounds and perspectives that enrich my understanding of content learned both inside and outside the classroom.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

Without knowing any better, I chose to visit Fuqua on American Thanksgiving (and yes, Canadians do refer to it as that!) and arrived to find campus entirely deserted. Despite that, I walked around with my family and was able to picture myself being a member of the community. For me, that was the single greatest decision-making factor. I liked what the city had to offer, I loved how Fuqua was ranked among other schools, and the content and structure of the program were right up my alley—but it wasn’t until I saw the beautiful campus and envisioned myself going there that I knew Fuqua was right for me.

Before Fuqua

During my senior year of undergrad, I managed the on-campus pub at my university. I was responsible for managing food, beverage, and branded merchandise sales, overseeing facility maintenance, event planning, and ticket sales, and supervising a staff of four other people.

After Fuqua

I hope to combine the fundamental business knowledge and skills I have gained from the MMS program with the qualitative, people-oriented skills I developed as a liberal arts major. I am interested in a variety of financial consulting and client-oriented wealth management opportunities.

What I Love About Durham

I can vividly remember sitting in my student apartment in Canada, staring out the window at feet upon feet of snow piling up outside while I worked on my application to Fuqua. When I researched Durham, it struck me as the perfect place to experience living and studying in the United States for the first time. I knew I wanted Southern weather, Southern cuisine, and Southern hospitality, and since arriving in Durham, my expectations have been surpassed. The weather is beautiful (although just seasonal enough for me to need some items from my Canadian wardrobe!), the food is delectable, and the people are among the friendliest I’ve ever encountered.
