“Each one of my C-LEAD team members has something different to contribute when it comes to groupwork. The myriad number of experiences and backgrounds contributes to eye-opening and productive discussions. More importantly, each is someone who’ll be there for me when I need them the most or least expect it.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

In speaking with current students at the schools I was applying to, the level of engagement and number of students who reached out to me from Fuqua was by far the most. They weren’t trying to sell Fuqua. They cared about knowing who I was as a person and what my goals and interests were. We even talked about non-Fuqua matters. I never got the feeling that they were too busy to provide me with more information or answer a question. I felt like I was part of the Fuqua team.

5 Restaurants You Won’t Want to Miss in Durham

  1. La Superior Carniceria – This is where to find some of the most authentic Mexican food in the area. Plus, it’s attached to a Mexican grocery store.
  2. Alpaca Peruvian Charcoal Chicken – Consistent, tasty, and lots of bang for your buck. Oh, and the green sauce goes great on ANYTHING.
  3. Sister Liu’s Kitchen – This place has some of the most authentic Chinese food in the area. Each item is made with love and care, and you can tell it when you eat here.
  4. Picnic – With all the various fried chicken spots in the area, don’t bother researching; go here. Their chicken has crispy, crunchy, perfect skin that retains a ton of juice on the inside.
  5. Drunken Noodles (Food Truck) – Its availability in the area is sporadic, but if ‘Thai Spicy’ is what you crave, anything you get from here will deliver, and then some. Not to mention, the flavor is on point.

My Life Before Fuqua

I worked at Oracle in sales compensation, incorporating the strategic direction of various products and services with the compensation plans and components of sales reps and management. I then pivoted into public accounting, working at Elsener & Elsener, where I focused on preparing tax returns and conducting industry-compliant audits.

My Life After Fuqua

I plan to move back to the Bay Area and work in technology. Since technology has become an inseparable part of our daily lives, the opportunity to work in this ever-growing, innovative industry would be meaningful to me.

Teams

Fuqua is one big team. You are surrounded by classmates who genuinely want to connect, get to know you, and support you. It has been one of the most pleasant surprises of my Fuqua experience.

What I Love About the Fuqua Network

When you connect with a Fuqua alum, the overwhelming theme is that the connection to Fuqua comes first, even though the person may also be part of a company or industry of interest to you. I appreciate that Fuqua alums are transparent, and I know I’ll get real insight and information from them.
