Reflections

Health care organizations seeking to improve the outcomes of the patients they serve in a cost-effective method need innovation to deliver on value-based care. Prior to enrolling in this program, my experience in performance-improvement initiatives aimed at demonstrating the value of rehabilitation services made me aware of the importance of understanding clinical data and the associated outcomes which had potential to impact financial decision making. I chose the MSQM: HA program over others because it was designed to provide the business decision-making skills necessary to leverage data and drive improvements in medical outcomes and cost effectiveness of organizations.

I am currently a clinical manager of an outpatient rehabilitation clinic. I work with heads of marketing, finance staff, and patient information to oversee operations for our clinic. I facilitate program development across departments to ensure our organization meets community needs.

I want to progress further into a health care administration role, focusing more on strategy and program development. The skills I am currently learning in this program will give me the ability to better lead teams implementing data-driven solutions.

Advantages of Working as a Team

The diversity in the experiences of my peer team is one of my favorite aspects of the program. We are made of up a variety of healthcare providers, health administrators, data scientists, and researchers. Everyone has a strength they bring to the team, and such a strong foundational knowledge in their given fields. Everyone provides insight and a wide range of perspective towards each course or assignment.
