“The collaborative nature of the student body has changed how I approach leadership. As a V.P. in the MMS Association Cabinet, I often draw directly from the students whom I lead. Hearing about their experiences I then discern whether conducting an initiative will fulfill demand.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

Fuqua’s emphasis on teamwork was the major reason I chose to further my studies here at Duke. The ability to collaborate with peers to achieve success is an attribute I believe corporations tremendously value. The way learning is structured here, working with teammates on a Finance or Strategy assignment is teaching me practical skills. In the real world, companies are often team-based and want employees who can communicate and work together. By combining my ideas and insights with my teammates’ approaches to solving problems, we can come up with novel techniques to deal with real issues affecting companies.

During Fuqua

On the MMSA I led the effort to create a weekly newsletter which provides information about upcoming team-building activities, service initiatives, and career workshops. I’m also a Marketing Fellow; a member of DEMAN; the Media, Entertainment and Sports Club; and the Food and Beverage Club.

After Fuqua

My prior exposure to the healthcare startup field definitely played a factor in my decision to attend the MMS program. After graduation, I will be working as a Strategy Analyst in the Revenue Operations Division of Davita.

  1. MMS Team Rooms: These rooms are equipped with writeable whiteboard walls, as well as a large screen that can be connected to a computer
  2. Ford Library: There’s always room to study in the library. The ambient atmosphere and large number of power outlets makes working here productive
  3. Heights conference rooms: Occasionally, my team completes team assignments at the Heights Clubhouse, which houses multiple conference rooms
  4. Triangle Coffee House: It has a cozy atmosphere and is generally quiet; they also have great coffee drinks, which makes it easy to stay caffeinated during projects!
