Why I Chose Fuqua

As a member of the first class of undergraduate students of DKU, I missed the opportunity to exchange and study at Duke University due to the pandemic. The MMS: DKU program provides opportunities to study at both DKU and Duke campus, which perfectly matches my goal of studying abroad and later working in China. My studies will not only be a supplement to my undergraduate studies, but also be a critical transition for my career. The courses like accounting, finance, and capital markets will compensate for my lack of business expertise.

I was the University Programming Assistant in the Office of Campus Engagement at DKU. I was mainly in charge of planning and organizing on-campus weekly activities as well as large-scale campus events.

I am interested in social media operation and management in China, and my goal is to work in market analysis and research related to video and livestream ecommerce business.

5 Random Things About Me

  1. I have practiced Chinese dance for more than 15 years. To challenge myself, I joined the street dance club in my freshman year at DKU. In my daily exercise, I often manage to incorporate the elements of Chinese dance into popular street dance and choreography.
  2. At the age of 10, half an hour before one of my piano tests, I fell from the horizontal bar and hurt my arm. My mother was terrified and asked me not to continue with the test, but I insisted on playing. The injury turned out to be a misplacement of the bone in the arm and the doctor was surprised by my persistence at such a young age. Additionally, I passed the test with a satisfactory result.
  3. I learned to play softball in my college and formed a softball team with my roommate. During a competition with a professional team from Taiwan, we surprisingly won the game by realizing the potential of the players so that each of us was placed on suitable strategic positions.
  4. I enjoy drawing comics and designing new clothes for the characters I create, and I have a large collection of my own drawings.
  5. From a young age, I have enjoyed watching the TV program Legal Report. Furthermore, I am also fascinated by Sherlock Holmes, as well as Higashino Keigo’s novels, which provide me with diverse insights into humanity and develop my logical reasoning abilities.

What I Love About Kunshan

I have been studying in Duke Kunshan University for 4 years, and I must say that I love this city. What I love most about Kunshan is that it is a quiet and peaceful place to live. There are many beautiful small parks, and I really enjoy riding a bike or just walking along the lake and listening to music. This is a great way for me to relax as well as refresh myself.
