“I am a more collaborative leader now than before I arrived at Fuqua. By studying leadership in the summer term, I learned the science behind and best practices of high performing teams. I have since had ample opportunities to apply those principles in practice and have experienced teams wherein we are stronger together than alone.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

When applying to business schools, I looked for an academically rigorous program that also provided exposure to both the strategy and social impact consulting industries. For these reasons I was drawn to Fuqua, but ultimately, I chose Fuqua because of its close-knit community. I realized that Fuqua was the perfect fit for me upon meeting my future classmates at Blue Devil Weekend. I left the weekend awestruck by how caring and genuine the Fuqua community is. Now as a student, that feeling has only grown stronger, as I have been deeply impacted by the strong relationships I have built with my classmates.

5 Random Things About Me

  1. I enjoy traveling the world and experiencing new cultures. One of my favorite trips was to Addis Ababa where I saw the 3.2 million-year-old fossil of Lucy the Australopithecus and had my first cup of coffee.
  2. I crashed a Vespa in Tuscany, Italy and broke both my arms. Several days later, I visited the Vatican and received blessings from what seemed like every nun in the city.
  3. Growing up, I dreamed of becoming an astronaut. As a 10-year old, I fulfilled that dream when I served as a space shuttle commander while at space camp. I still hope to experience space one day.
  4. Swim. Bike. Run. I love triathlons and the grueling nature of the sport. I have twice qualified for age group nationals and hope to one day complete an Iron Man.
  5. There is a running joke in my family that I was born hungry because my first words were all different types of foods. It was not until my eighth word that I said “Mom”.

My Life Before Fuqua

I served as the interim-director of Open Arms Home for Children, an AIDS orphanage located in rural South Africa, where I spent time overseeing the wellbeing of 40 employees and 55 children. Thereafter, I worked for PwC in Chicago, holding roles in financial services assurance and deals advisory, primarily serving private equity firms.

My Life After Fuqua

My goal is to work in the strategy consulting field wherein I can apply the skills I’ve learned to help solve complex business problems. Long-term, I hope to use the skills I’ve acquired in strategy consulting to work for an impact investing fund and improve society through ethical business.

I'm a proud member of Fuqua Special Olympics, a club which raises funds for the Special Olympics in North Carolina and offers students the opportunity to mentor its athletes. My favorite aspect of the club is that it is one of the most social clubs on campus and all events benefit the Durham community. I have enjoyed building relationships with the athletes and look forward to coaching swim practice each week.
