“My classmates started as strangers and now have practically become family. They come to support me at my basketball games with their own chants and signs. I am grateful to have them as a part of my Fuqua family.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

I have had many friends and teammates go through the MMS: Foundations of Business program and they have had nothing but great things to say about it. Fuqua has everything that I wanted in a graduate school; wonderful people, a top tier education, and an alumni network that covers the globe. Since I went to Duke for my undergraduate education, I already knew how great the people are at Duke which made choosing Fuqua one of the easiest decisions I have ever made.

Before Fuqua

I interned at Fidelity Investments, where I was able to learn from and shadow employees at all levels of the company. I also interned with MOB Society where I completed a series of marketing and communications projects.

After Fuqua

I want to work within sports, whether that is coaching, working in the front office, or another opportunity that I have not yet discovered. Having been an athlete for the majority of my life, I am excited to learn more about the business side of the industry.

5 Random Things About Me

  1. I am a point guard on Duke’s women’s basketball team.
  2. I believe that perception is everything. A person’s mindset can change the course of their life.
  3. I was a military brat born in Guam. My parents and my brother were/are in the Air Force. Many of my extended family are also in the military.
  4. I am a sneakerhead. I have a growing sneaker collection and I look at each pair as a different piece of artwork with a story behind it.
  5. I love youth and teaching them new skills. I’ve volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and am a volunteer assistant coach of a Durham Parks and Recreation basketball team (Go Raging Bulls!)

What I Love About Durham

Durham is a city full of people of all ages and it is open and accepting of everyone. The weather is amazing, especially in the fall when all the trees change colors. Everything from concerts to festivals, to conventions, happen in Durham, so you’re never bored. This is also the foodiest city I have ever lived in! There is always a new place to eat which gives me a reason to see and explore different parts of the city. Durham is a great place to be overall, and I am so glad Duke is in the heart of it.
