Reflections

I chose Fuqua for the unique global and real-world experience the program offers alongside the strong team culture. Traveling with 90 plus people from around the world was such an enlightening experience. The balancing of work, family, and the program was both an exciting challenge and an anxious one. Exciting to see if I was resilient enough to balance all three. Anxious with a sustained feeling of, “Can I do it?” and “Have I missed something?”. Being organized and having great people around me at home, work, and the program pulled me through.

Before Fuqua

I worked in Switzerland in a global leadership role reviewing business processes around the world for ABB, a $35 billion multinational company. I moved to the U.S. a few months before the start of the program.

After Fuqua

I plan to keep improving myself and be the best I can be as a leader and as a person. I will look to apply what I’ve learned to be better at what I do. More importantly, I have further understood the power of a team and how to become a progressive leader.

5 Tips for Working Across Different Cultures

  1. Try and understand a person’s perspective even if it is not your norm.
  2. Make a conscious effort to get to know everyone on your team.
  3. During residencies, explore the culture you’re learning in with your classmates.
  4. Be open to learning something different.
  5. Have fun and be curious.
