Mya Maw
“Of course I’d worked in teams before, but I’d never been taught how to work on a team or why working as a team is preferred in the business world. At Fuqua, I’ve learned that how we work together is just as important as the results we produce.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

The outstanding curriculum, networking opportunities, and brand name that the business school offers were all important, but I also felt that Fuqua separated itself from the other schools by somehow having its own unique identity. I got a small taste of it during the admissions process, and I am delightfully learning even more now being a part of the community. I’ve made a really good group of friends here, friends that I’ve grown to care deeply enough about that I’m currently on a rampage to petition for all of us to end up working in the same cities.

During Fuqua

I serve as the MMSA’s Domestic Career Chair and am also an Admissions Ambassador. One of my personal goals coming into the program was to learn through other people’s successes, failures and experiences as much as my own. The results have been educationally enriching.

After Fuqua

I want to go into consulting to gain exposure to higher level company problems. The MMS program has helped me realize my strengths: presentation skills, networking, people skills, and management ability. I want to explore these areas and get more business-world experience under my belt.

5 Favorite Spots in Durham

  1. NanaTaco has fantastic tacos and nachos, with some great specialty meats.
  2. Alley 26 and The Durham Hotel’s rooftop bar are amazing; both are favorite spots.
  3. Monuts has the best coffee . . . And the best avocado toast . . . And the best donuts!
  4. The Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club is located just across the street from Fuqua and has an incredible $35 three-course dinner.
  5. The Duke Performing Arts Center offers spectacular musicals and shows.
