Nadia Yusuf
“I know that if I have a huge test coming up, my professors will be there to help and my classmates will stay up to make sure I understand all the concepts. Even if I’m competing with someone in interviews, there is always that attitude of support.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

I wanted to gain a better understanding of business concepts, and Fuqua represented an opportunity to get a world-class education from a highly recognized institution with a phenomenal alumni network. I would be able to gain the skills necessary to think strategically and make sound recommendations, along with a large network that supported me unconditionally— and I must say this has been true for my classmates and me.

During Fuqua

I’m the Judicial Representative for the MMS Association and an active member of both the MMS Consulting Club and the Black and Latino MBA Organization. I also serve the school as an Admissions Ambassador.

After Fuqua

I plan on working at a consulting firm in New York City. Fuqua’s network allowed me to leverage connections with people working in the positions I’m interested in as well as top executives at those same firms. It's amazing to see the reach of our community.

5 Tips for Maximizing Your Time at Fuqua

  1. There are over 40 countries represented so take the time to get to know your classmates. You will learn a lot from each other’s experiences and cultures.
  2. Academics are important, but so is networking. The Fuqua network is so vast and so enthusiastic that you can easily get connected to resources and opportunities.
  3. Use some of your time in the classroom to think about topics that could apply to daily experiences that you go through.
  4. Read the Wall Street Journal – trust me, it helps in business school.
  5. Enjoy your time here. First, Duke games! There’s always a tailgate and time to bond with the Fuqua family. I also love the Sarah P. Duke Gardens on campus, and Dame’s Chicken and Waffles downtown.
