Why I Chose Fuqua

The Health Sector Management program is one of the most defined and valuable healthcare programs offered at business schools. I want to lead a medical device company, and the exposure and learning that Fuqua and the other great Duke schools provide is more coordinated and refined than many other programs.

The team aspect of Fuqua really resonated with me because it illustrated the school's commitment to finding very talented, humble and collaborative individuals that challenged each other. I knew that this was a network that would remain together and grow throughout my career. Every interaction I had with Fuqua - student, alumni, and administration, felt authentic.

5 Best Fuqua Activities

  1. Fuqua Friday: Awesome way to end the week—for significant others and family too!
  2. Basketball Campout: Really unique experience—It's a 36-hour tailgate with little to no sleep.
  3. Distinguished Speaker Series: Listen to speakers like General Martin Dempsey, Mary Barra (CEO of GM), Adam Silver (Commissioner, NBA).
  4. Fuqua Vision: Incredible production of all the inside jokes and shenanigans that go on at Fuqua.
  5. Section Olympics: Sporting and community service events to get 1st Year & 2nd Year to square off against each other.

My Life Before Fuqua

I worked in digital strategy consulting for life sciences companies. I primarily focused on helping them identify and create more engaging customer experiences through digital means.

My Life After Fuqua

I will return to consulting but will seek to help large life sciences companies create the business case and strategy to execute large-scale transformations. Long-term, I'd like to run a medical device company that focuses on low-cost, scalable devices.

What I Love About Durham

Coming from New York City, I naturally questioned the diversity of activities, professional opportunities, and restaurants that Durham could provide. Since I've been down here, I've been exposed to the incredible food and drink scene that the city offers, as well as opportunities to attend sporting events, shows (DPAC does a good job of bringing Broadway to the south) and outdoor activities.

Further, because it's not an enormous city, it adds to the relationships that you create with your classmates at Fuqua. The city offers you the opportunity to experience everything you look for in a big city, without getting lost in the shuffle. For me, that's the best part about Durham.
