I led an effort through our class community service club in Lima, Peru. We worked with a local NGO to spend a day constructing much-needed infrastructure in a shantytown on the outskirts of the city. The team worked beside villagers to build a retaining wall to keep homes from sliding down a steep mountainside. One stone at a time, we contributed to ensuring safer living conditions in the community for decades to come. This experience was one of the most rewarding moments of the program as it connected us with the residents we were serving and brought classmates closer together.
I was a member/manager of an internationally touring professional vocal ensemble from Las Vegas. I wore many hats in this role, though my primary responsibilities were managing client relationships and business development. I also launched a niche booking agency six months before the start of the program.
My goal is to pivot into a corporation that values the creativity and diverse perspective I bring from the music industry. The Global Executive MBA program and the Career Management Center have provided me with the strategies, tools, and confidence to successfully make this career transition.
Fuqua alumni have been incredibly supportive in helping me make a career transition. One particular alumnus was paramount in preparing me for an opportunity at his company. Though we had never met, our Fuqua connection tied us together. Because of the way he went above and beyond to help and coach me, I was able to present myself in a way that resonated with the employer, resulting in an offer. I can only hope to pay this kindness forward to graduates one day.
