“I want to work in technology because I find it exciting and want to work on the frontier of something new. There is so much innovation going on all the time, with established companies and startups alike working on products and services never seen before.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

I chose Fuqua because of its emphasis on teamwork. I visited Fuqua a few times before making my decision, and each time I was welcomed warmly and treated like I was already part of the team. Everyone I met was friendly and spoke so positively of the collaborative atmosphere at Fuqua. I decided I wanted to immerse myself in an environment where I could be around future business leaders who wanted to learn to work in teams, while also developing a strong quantitative skill set.

Before Fuqua

Before Fuqua, I worked for First Citizens Bank as a project analyst. The projects I worked on required me to pull insights from data, which would be incorporated into important business decisions. This experience is what really sparked my interest in data science.

After Fuqua

After graduation, I hope to work for a technology company in New York City or the Bay area in a data scientist role or work in internal consulting using data. Eventually, I would love to be able to help companies develop a business strategy by utilizing my strong business background and data tools I’ve gained at Fuqua.

My MQM Track

I’m pursuing the Strategy track, where I hope to gain a strong insight into how data can help direct business strategy and the frameworks on which strategy is built.

Top 5 Fuqua Activities

  1. Blue Devil Experience is the best because you can really get a sense of what it’s like to be a part of Fuqua and you get to meet your amazing classmates for the first time.
  2. Fuqua Fridays are lots of fun, not only for the free food and drinks but also because it’s a social event where you can get to know everyone.
  3. Orientation had incredible energy—the staff was so helpful, and at the end, you get to meet your team (a.k.a. your new family).
  4. Triangle Training is a ropes course team-building activity that really helps you get to know the members of your section and start learning to work together.
  5. Although this isn’t really an event, there is a foosball table at Fuqua, and we have a lot of people who are always playing and having a great time.
