Why I Chose Fuqua

Fuqua is known for its collaborative culture. That was always a huge draw for me because I’ve always enjoyed working in teams and teamwork is essential in the corporate world. During my campus visit, I attended my first Fuqua Friday and got to see firsthand how Fuquans interact with each other. I was amazed at how warm and inclusive everybody was. There was a nice balance of individuality and collectivism.

I also wanted to attend a school that was in a relatively small town (I was coming from Los Angeles) and had a strong presence in the local community. A good sports program was icing on the cake. Fuqua checked all the boxes for me. I was sold!

5 Random Things About Me

  1. Two years ago a TED talk inspired me to start taking cold showers. I'm still going strong!
  2. In college and before facial hair, I was told by several people that I looked like Ralph Macchio’s character Daniel LaRusso in “The Karate Kid.”
  3. In 2016, I watched a sunset in Tokyo, flew back to Los Angeles, and witnessed the same sunset again.
  4. I'm a huge "Lord of the Rings" fan. I didn't commit to reading the books until long after I had seen the movies. It took me about nine months to finish the trilogy.
  5. Compilations of news bloopers are my favorite type of videos on YouTube.

My Life Before Fuqua

I worked in technology management in Los Angeles for a private equity firm, Tennenbaum Capital Partners. I led a team of software developers in providing solutions for different business units ranging from investment, operations, marketing, and administration.

My Life After Fuqua

I want to leverage my background in tech and financial services in the consulting industry. I want to drive results by providing innovative solutions to help businesses and organizations meet their strategic goals.

As a planning committee member, it was exciting to meet and learn from some of the brightest minds in the energy industry.

My Favorite Fuqua Clubs

Public speaking is unavoidable in the business world—how ideas are articulated in the workplace can make a big difference in one’s success. The Public Speaking Club is a place where all students find value in improving their communication skills in a supportive environment. I am committed to improving my own speaking skills and also helping others in becoming better communicators and leaders.

Improv is another club that enhances your ability to think on your feet. What’s exciting about improv is how a scene develops when participants react in the moment to something that was said or done earlier. Diving into unexpected situations without knowing the outcome is what makes improv so much fun.
