David Taylor on being a true listener

David Taylor said the best leaders he's worked with were true listeners who tapped into the abilities of the people around them.

The Procter & Gamble CEO told students during a conversation with Bill Boulding, dean of Duke's Fuqua School of Business, that listening to people with different viewpoints means taking the time to understand how they got there.

"Think about the benefit to me if I surround myself with people different from me," Taylor said. "If I have the intelligence to listen to them, I then have this tremendous pool of both facts and experiences I can access to make a better decision."

In these short videos, Taylor discusses leadership and inclusion as part of Fuqua's Distinguished Speakers Series. The full video of Taylor's talk is above.
