Parking and Special Needs

Saturday's ceremony will take place in Cameron Indoor Stadium with a reception to follow in the Fox Student Center at The Fuqua School of Business.

General Parking

Parking will be available in the Science Drive Garage (302 Science Dr., Durham, NC 27708) which is located at the intersection of Science Drive and Cameron Boulevard/Highway 751. Plan to enter the garage from Cameron Boulevard/Highway 751. Please allow 10-15 minutes to walk from the parking garage to Cameron Indoor Stadium. Use this map as a resource for parking and walking directions to the stadium!


Weather in Durham

Be sure to prepare for weather, including rain. Consult local weather information.

Saturday Ceremony Policy

The Saturday graduation events are all indoors so weather will not be a factor. Please plan to attend rain or shine.

Sunday Ceremony Policy

For Sunday's event at Wallace Wade Stadium, the ceremony will continue in the event of rain. If weather conditions are threatening, the Graduation exercises will be canceled. If weather conditions are questionable on Sunday morning, you may call the Office of the University Marshal (919-660-1555) or the Bryan Center Information Desk (919-684-2323). Inclement weather decisions will be made and announced by 8:30 am on Sunday morning.

Graduation Speakers

Fuqua's 2024 Executive MBA & MSQM Programs commencement speaker will be Ajay Banga, 14th President of the World Bank.

Ajay Banga began his five-year term as World Bank Group President on June 2, 2023.

Ajay most recently served as Vice Chairman at General Atlantic. Previously, he was President and CEO of Mastercard, a global organization with nearly 24,000 employees. Under his leadership, MasterCard launched the Center for Inclusive Growth, which advances equitable and sustainable economic growth and financial inclusion around the world. He was Honorary Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce, serving as Chairman from 2020-2022. He became an advisor to General Atlantic’s climate-focused fund, BeyondNetZero, at its inception in 2021. Banga served as Co-Chair of the Partnership for Central America, a coalition of private organizations that works to advance economic opportunity across underserved populations in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. He was previously on the Boards of the American Red Cross, Kraft Foods, and Dow Inc.

Banga is a co-founder of The Cyber Readiness Institute and was Vice Chair of the Economic Club of New York. He was awarded the Foreign Policy Association Medal in 2012, the Padma Shri Award by the President of India in 2016, the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and the Business Council for International Understanding’s Global Leadership Award in 2019, and the Distinguished Friends of Singapore Public Service Star in 2021.

Duke University's 2024 Commencement Speaker will be comedian and actor Jerry Seinfeld.

Now in his fifth decade as a stand-up comedian, Seinfeld is best known for playing a fictionalized version of himself in the eponymous sitcom he cocreated with Larry David for NBC. Seinfeld aired for nine seasons and 180 episodes between 1989 and 1998 and was the most-watched show in America at various points during its run. It is often cited as one of the best and most influential television comedy series ever made, and Seinfeld won an Emmy and a Golden Globe award for his acting on the show.

Seinfeld graduated from Queens College, City University of New York with a degree in communications and theater in 1976. His career has included numerous stand-up specials and documentaries. His interview series, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, which featured Seinfeld interviewing fellow comedians and other public figures while driving to get coffee, ended in 2019 after 11 seasons.

Seinfeld will receive an honorary Doctor of Arts degree.
