This page provides general information useful to everyone attending graduation.
Parking
Parking will be available in the Science Drive Garage (302 Science Dr., Durham, NC 27708) which is located at the intersection of Science Drive and Cameron Boulevard/Highway 751. Plan to enter the garage from Cameron Boulevard/Highway 751. Please allow 10-15 minutes to walk from the parking garage to Cameron Indoor Stadium. Use this map as a resource for parking and walking directions to the stadium!
Weather
The weather in Durham can be warm in May (average temperatures are between 55°F-78°F (12.8°C-25.6°C) and rain is possible (consult local weather information for up-to-the-minute forecasts).
Saturday Ceremony Policy
The Saturday graduation events are all indoors so weather will not be a factor. Please plan to attend rain or shine.
Sunday Ceremony Policy
For Sunday's event at Wallace Wade Stadium, the ceremony will continue in the event of rain. If weather conditions are threatening, the Graduation exercises will be canceled. If weather conditions are questionable on Sunday morning, please check Duke's Commencement webpage for updates. Inclement weather decisions will be made and announced by 8:30 am on Sunday morning.
Clothing
Business casual or business formal dress is preferred. Please lan to dress appropriate for the weather, have good walking shoes, bring water, wear sunblock (Sunday's ceremony is outdoors), and pack an umbrella, etc. Guests will need to walk to the ceremony, reception, and parking facilities.
Graduation Speaker
Duke University has not announced the commencement speaker yet. As soon as the speaker is announced, this page will be updated with details.
Saturday Fuqua EMBA/MSQM Ceremony General Information
- Guest tickets are not required to attend the Fuqua EMBA/MSQM ceremony on Saturday morning.
- Guest should enter Cameron Indoor Stadium (Cameron) through the upper-level entrance near the Hall of Honor.
- 7:30am: Cameron opens for guest seating; guests are asked not to follow their graduate to the class photo area.
- 8:45am: All guests should be seated in preparation for the start of the procession at 9:00am.
- At the conclusion of the ceremony, all guests should exit Cameron via the same doors through which they entered and proceed outside to the South entrance to Cameron to meet their graduate.
- Bags and items larger than 12"x12"x6" (e.g., backpacks, duffel bags, large purses, suitcases, wrapped gifts, banners, flags, signs, etc.) will be prohibited from entering Cameron Indoor Stadium. Please leave such items in person vehicles or lodgings.
- If bags are required for medical or childcare purposes, clear bags of the permitted size are strongly recommended. Reasonable exceptions will be made for accessibility, childcare, and medical accommodations.
- Alcoholic Beverages
- All Drones & Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)
- Balloons
- Confetti
- Glitter
- Hazardous Materials
- Items obstructing the sightlines of other guests (signs, banners, flags, etc.)
- Laser Pointers
- Noisemakers that can disrupt the ceremony (air horns, bullhorns, etc.)
- Pets (exception for service animals)
- Weapons of any kind (including pocket knives)
- Graduates should request priority parking/seating for any guests with disability or mobility challenges in the final graduation attendance survey that will be distributed in late March (applicable guest names will be required).
- Graduate should also indicate whether any of these guests will require a wheelchair.
- Those graduate who request ADA parking will receive an email with a special parking pass for the Whitford Parking Lot approximately one week before the ceremony. The pass should be printed and available to show when accessing the parking lot on Saturday morning.
- Prior to parking, ADA guests can be unloaded in the circle in front of Cameron Indoor Stadium (i.e., the Whitford Lot Circle). Wheelchairs will be available there to transport the guests into Cameron if needed. (Once seated, the wheelchair should be returned to the drop area for other guests to use.)
- ADA guests should enter Cameron via the same entrance as all other guests, but they can use the elevator to proceed down to the 1st floor. Staff will be available to direct guests to the ADA seating are on the floor of Cameron. Other guests of the same graduate are welcome to join the ADA guest seated on the floor of Cameron. ADA seats are not reserved by the graduate, so you are encouraged to arrive early to secure your preferred seat.
- A shuttle will be available after the ceremony at the Whitford Lot Circle to transport ADA guests to Fuqua for the reception. The shuttle will also be available during and after the reception to return ADA guests to the Whitford Parking Lot.
- Tickets are required for the Duke-wide graduation ceremony in Wallace Wade Stadium on Sunday, May 10. Directions for requesting tickets will be provided in early April. There is a limit of 20 guest tickets per graduate. Visit the Duke Commencement website for more information.
- The Duke-wide graduation ceremony procession begins at 9:00am. Guests should be seated no later than 8:30am.

- Wallace Wade Stadium enforces a clear bag policy to help ensure guest safety and streamline entry.
- All bags must be clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC and may not exceed 12"x12"x6".
- Small clutches or wallets (no larger than 8"x5"x1"), with or without a strap, and one-gallon clear plastic storage bags are also permitted.
- Bags for medical and childcare needs are allowed but subject to inspection.
