2025-2026 Recruiting Guidelines:

The Fuqua Career Management Center operates under the principles outlined by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) in its Professional Standards for University Relations and Recruiting. All employers recruiting Fuqua students are expected to comply, regardless of whether an employer utilizes Fuqua services or facilities. Violating these guidelines will likely impact the employer’s reputation with Fuqua students and may involve sanctions imposed by Fuqua.

Students are required to attend class during scheduled times, no exceptions will be made for recruiting travel, events, or interviews. Work with your industry Account Manager to schedule your recruiting activities at times that align with student availability, minimizing academic conflicts.

First-year daytime students must stay in Durham, NC, to complete Spring Term II and final exams through the end of April. In late August, these same students must return to Durham, NC for pre-term activities. Therefore, internships should end by August 21, 2026, so these students can fulfill their academic obligations.

Extending an Offer

Fuqua expects that student candidates for jobs and internship opportunities receive adequate time to evaluate offers so they will make informed employment decisions. The fundamental terms of an employment offer – including annual salary, base signing bonus, performance bonus, relocation, and job function – must remain unchanged until the expiration date. Financial incentives encouraging students to commit before the deadline are permitted as long as incentives are small relative to the overall value of the offer and still allows for the minimum acceptance window as described below.

We expect employers and students to maintain open communication regarding offers. Employers should consider reasonable extension requests when asked, while students should keep relevant employer representatives informed and make timely decisions.

These principles and timelines apply universally, regardless of how the opportunity originated.

Offer Deadlines

The timelines we establish support informed and responsible decisions by our students at a unique and critical juncture in their lives. Students may accept an offer before the deadline if they desire. However, students should not be obligated to respond sooner.

Employers and students are expected to honor offers and acceptances of employment as serious commitments of intent according to the terms of the offer. There are times when an employer may have to revoke an offer based on changing organizational or business needs. Similarly, there are times when a student’s circumstances change and they are no longer able to fulfill their obligation. While both rarely occur, each situation will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis for further action.

Daytime MBA Offer Deadlines

November 3, 2025 | All offers for full-time employment made to graduating MBA students as a result of a summer internship should remain open until November 3, 2025 or for three (3) weeks from the date of the written offer, whichever is later.

December 1, 2025 | All other offers made to MBA students for internship or full-time employment should remain open until December 1, 2025 or for three (3) weeks from the date of the written offer, whichever is later.

Spring offers | Offers extended on or after March 1, 2026 should remain open a minimum of two (2) weeks from the date of the written offer.

Master of Management Studies: Foundations of Business (MMS)
Master of Quantitative Management: Business Analytics (MQM)

The Fuqua Career Management Center expects that MMS and MQM students receive adequate time to evaluate offers in order to make informed decisions regarding their careers and employment. Please provide flexibility if a student requests a reasonable offer extension.

Working Professional Students and Fuqua Alumni

Students currently enrolled in one of the following programs are working professional students and do not follow the same academic calendar as students enrolled in our Durham-based programs: Weekend Executive MBA (WEMBA), Global Executive MBA (GEMBA), Master of Quantitative Management: Health Analytics (MSQM: Health Analytics), and Master of Quantitative Management: Business Analytics-Online (MSQM: Business Analytics) (includes Accelerated MSQM).

Providing the candidate with enough time to make a thoughtful decision remains crucial to a positive recruiting experience for all. Therefore, we recommend that all offers made to working professional students or Fuqua alumni remain open for at least two weeks from the date of the written offer. Please provide flexibility if a student requests a reasonable offer extension. If the offer results from a campus-facilitated interview or career-center-facilitated event, please see the dates above under Daytime MBA Full-Time Offer Deadlines.

Organizations may not use contact information obtained through employer presentations, job postings, candidate search, resume books, club events, or other recruiting activities to facilitate commercial selling or solicitation.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education, including Duke. Recruiting organizations may only access information approved by students for distribution. This includes, but is not limited to, the resume database, registration to employer events, and application to job opportunities. No one affiliated with Duke University may give out student information to employers without the student’s explicit consent.

Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business forbids discrimination based on sex, race, color, religion, age, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, arrest record, or disability. Learn more through the Duke University Office for Institutional Equity.

In compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act, interviews must be made available to all interested students who meet the permanent work authorization requirements for other than practical training purposes, regardless of their citizenship. If United States citizenship is required by your company, please indicate this requirement in the job description of any position for which you are recruiting. Please see the US Department of Justice “Best Practices for Recruiting and Hiring Workers” for more information and guidelines.

The Career Management Center is committed to upholding principles set by the Fuqua Community Standard in all academic and nonacademic endeavors. Student and employer behavior in the recruiting process, whether on- or off-campus, must uphold the fundamental principles of mutual respect, honesty, integrity, and professionalism at all times.

Duke considers the Fuqua Career Management Center staff and activities "Delayed Service" under the Duke Severe Weather and Emergency Conditions Policy. If Duke activates the severe weather/emergency conditions policy, we will not host interviews or events on campus until the University returns to normal operating status. As soon as we know the school is closed or will have a delayed opening, the Employer Engagement team will reach out and work with our recruiting organizations to make alternate arrangements. You can also visit the Duke Alert website, which immediately updates the University operations status.
