Bio

Dr. Angelica Leigh is an Associate Professor (pre-tenure) of Management and Organizations at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Dr. Leigh received her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Dr. Leigh’s research centers on race in organizations. In her first stream she examines the unique experiences of racial minority employees (e.g. Asian, Black, Latinx) in organizations. For example, her work examines the spillover effects of “mega-threats” – large scale negative identity related societal events – on racial minority employees at work. In her second stream of research she examines the behaviors that employees engage in to combat racism and advance equity in organizations.

Her research has been published in the Academy of Management Review, the Academy of Management Journal, Organization Science, and the Journal of Applied Psychology. She has received several awards for her research including the Academy of Management Journal's 2022 best published paper award. Dr. Leigh is also an active member of the PhD project, an organization that is dedicated to increasing the number of underrepresented faculty in business schools.

Before joining academia, Dr. Leigh worked at General Electric Healthcare as a Financial Management Program member and a Global Product Finance Manager for the MI/CT business.
