Bio

Kevin M. White is a professor of the practice and also vice president/director of athletics, emeritus at Duke. White has a Ph.D. in education from Southern Illinois University in 1983 and currently teaches a sports business course at Fuqua as part of the Daytime MBA program.

White joined Duke after leading Notre Dame’s athletics program from 2000-08. Since arriving in Durham, White has led the implementation of the strategic plan approved by Duke’s Board of Trustees in April 2008. He led Duke Athletics to unprecedented success in competition, reshaped the organization into a more efficient department and implemented significant diversity and inclusion efforts for Duke Athletics. He has mentored more than two dozen current or former directors of athletics.

Prior to joining Notre Dame in 2000, White served as athletic director at Arizona State University, Tulane University, the University of Maine and Loras College in Iowa. He graduated from the Harvard Institute of Educational Management in 1985. He is a member of both the United States Olympic Committee and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Selection Committee.

White and his wife, Jane, a former college track and field coach, have five children and 12 grandchildren.
