Bio
Cathy has a decade-plus of higher education English language teaching experience in both oral and written communication. She has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Hawaii, North Carolina State University and Duke University where she currently teaches matriculated Master's and PhD students in The Graduate School.
She enjoys working with international M.B.A. students in the summer as part of the Fuqua School of Business' International Student Bootcamp. At Duke, she provides yearly pronunciation workshops for newly matriculated international graduate students in the Sanford School of Public Policy and the Pratt School of Engineering.
In addition to her ESL teaching, she has also served as a teacher trainer primarily on the topic of linguistics for ESL teachers at NC State, Duke University and Durham County Public Schools. Her administrative experience includes five years as the Assistant Director of NCSU's Title VII Teacher Training grant where she was the co-founder of the yearly NCSU ESL Symposium with Toby Brody, emeritus director of ESL.
