Bio
Sharique Hasan, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Strategy at the Fuqua School of Business. Professor Hasan’s research and teaching interests are focused on entrepreneurial and human capital strategy, particularly in high-technology industries. He studies the formation and growth of new ventures as well as the translation of clinical and scientific ideas into new products and services. His prior research focused on entrepreneurial advice networks, knowledge spillovers, and experimentation.
In addition to his doctorate from Carnegie Mellon University, he holds a B.S. in Computer Science and Philosophy from Rutgers College and an M.S. in Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon. His research has been published in top journals including, Management Science, Strategic Management Journal, American Sociological Review, Organization Science, and the Administrative Science Quarterly. He has presented his work at leading universities, as well as to governmental and non-governmental organizations. He is an Associate Editor at Management Science and serves on the editorial boards of the Strategic Management Journal and Organization Science.
At Duke, he has taught the core Strategy class for several programs at Duke, including the Daytime MBA, Weekend Executive MBA, the Global Executive MBA, as well as the Masters of Management Studies. He has been recognized for his teaching with the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2018 for the MMS:DKU program.
