Jose Augusto de Carvalho is a senior partner at Axxon Group, a leading value-oriented private equity firm focused on the mid-cap segment in Brazil, where he helped found the firm in 2001 and has been responsible for the São Paulo office. Jose Augusto has been involved in PE investments and served as a board member in a variety of businesses such as electronic security, animal health, oil and gas, truck trailers, facilities management, and telecom.
Prior to joining Axxon, Jose Augusto spent seven years in the mergers and acquisitions divisions of Brazilian investment banks Pactual and BBA, managing deal origination, execution, and client relationship involving mostly family-owned businesses in industries such as chemicals, food products, and retail.
Prior to his investment banking career, Jose Augusto held engineering and operating roles at Pirelli Cabos do Brasil, one of the leading tire and cable manufacturers in Brazil, and Dacarto S/A Ind Plasticos, one of the largest PVC compounds manufacturers in South America.
Jose Augusto holds an MBA from the Duke University Fuqua School of Business, an industrial management post-Graduate degree from the University of São Paulo, and a chemical engineering bachelor’s degree from the University of São Paulo. He is fluent in English and is a Portuguese native speaker.
Jose Augusto is married to Fuqua alumna Maria Cecilia and has two children, Pedro and Juliana, who is Duke University undergraduate student.
