"'Maybe the real treasure is the friends you make along the way!' I never expected to have found a family as part of my master’s studies experience, and I did! My little friend group not only taught me the meaning of 'Team Fuqua,' but has also become my (and each other’s) support system during our time at Fuqua."

Why I Chose Fuqua
I am interested in working with dynamic multidisciplinary teams, solving problems strategically, and positively impacting my clients. Although I can try hard to land such roles, a master’s degree in business analytics will aid me to realize that goal faster with exceptional hard skills training and an extensive network. Therefore, I decided to pursue a master’s degree in quantitative management in business analytics at Fuqua. I firmly believe the MQM program will provide me with the essential training, credentials, and network to break into the industry.
I had two years of experience as a business analyst intern at an organization in Ohio that provided low-cost consulting services to local small businesses and nonprofits. It was during this time that I realized the importance of using data to draw business insights and influence decisions. This led me to apply for and pursue the MQM degree, strategy track, at Fuqua.
I am thrilled to join the Cleveland Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, where I will be working in strategy and data analytics. This opportunity aligns perfectly with my passion for applying strategic management skills to facilitate data-informed decision-making. I am eager to utilize the principles of IQ, EQ, and DQ, embodying the spirit of Team Fuqua in my efforts to make a positive impact on communities we serve. My long-term career aspiration is to excel in the field of strategy. I am committed to using data and expertise to solve business problems, driving success and growth in various organizational contexts.
5 Spots to Study
- Gothic Reading Room in Rubenstein Library. If you’re looking for a quiet place and don’t want to be disturbed. At all.
- 2nd floor of the Duke Law School Library. If you’re looking to concentrate and you don’t have time to walk to Rubenstein. It also has cubicles with computer monitors and bookstands that I find to be super helpful.
- Fuqua Team Space. I find this place fun if you’re studying with your friends or just to meet and hangout with your classmates.
- Brodhead Center, 2nd floor. Easy since you can grab food and walk upstairs to study. It does get loud so prepare headphones!
- Student Wellness Center, 3rd floor. Quiet, you have a nice small cubicle with a killer view of the Duke Chapel!
My MQM Track
My MQM track is strategy. My track essentially focuses on using data to support strategic initiatives within an organization. Therefore, we cover a broad range of topics in our coursework, such as Strategic Management (where you learn how to be a strategy analyst and navigate the strategies a firm may want to know as a newcomer to an industry or whether or not they should enter a market, etc.), Operations Management (where you learn about the operations and logistics of a process within a company), and Econometrics (which essentially answers the question about causality and applying the tools learned in class to answer it). This is a great track if your desired position post-grad is strategy analyst, business analyst, or consultant.
