“Jump into the program with both feet! Connect early with your cohort during residencies—these relationships will be invaluable personally and professionally. Balance is key. Plan ahead to manage work, study, and personal commitments. Create a realistic schedule that includes dedicated study time and group work sessions. Classes and terms will move fast, be chaotic, and sometimes be frustrating. At those times, lean into your team members/cohort. Use the residency periods strategically to build deeper connections and tackle challenging coursework together. Last but not least, make sure to kick back, recharge your batteries, and have some fun before diving into the next round of classes. After all, a refreshed mind makes for a better student!”

Reflections
The team experience taught me the value of diverse perspectives and the importance of collaboration in achieving shared goals. Working with individuals from different industries, backgrounds, and expertise challenged me to approach problems from angles I hadn’t considered before. I learned to listen actively, ask thoughtful questions, and adapt my communication style to foster mutual understanding and respect.
We improved efficiency and outcomes by recognizing and leveraging each member’s unique skills. I also gained insights into navigating conflicts constructively, focusing on solutions rather than problems, and building consensus.
Before Fuqua
At Fidelity, I am part of the Asset Management Quantitative Risk Team. We are procedural and operational consultants for our internal stakeholders on new investment products. I lead metrics development for qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, ensuring they align seamlessly with complex business needs. My responsibilities include designing and implementing frameworks integrating risk evaluation with operational processes to enhance decision-making and strategic planning. I collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks while driving innovation in assessment methodologies. Additionally, I oversee the continuous improvement of operational workflows, leveraging data-driven insights to support the organization’s broader objectives.
After Fuqua
One of the goals of pursuing an MBA is to transition into venture capital. I aim to leverage my expertise in corporate finance, risk assessment, and strategy to identify high-potential companies and drive impactful investments. I also aim to support founders in scaling their ventures while aligning with broader financial inclusion and technological innovation goals. The program has equipped me with advanced analytical frameworks, strategic thinking tools, and leadership skills that will directly inform my decision-making as an investor. Moreover, the program’s focus on teamwork and cross-functional collaboration will enhance my ability to work effectively with entrepreneurs, colleagues, and stakeholders in this dynamic field.
Five Best Experiences in the WEMBA Program
- Watching my first football game from the box was an incredibly exciting experience, especially as Duke made an exhilarating comeback in the second half, turning the game into a thrilling event.
- Another memorable moment was celebrating Diwali with our entire cohort. It was a wonderful opportunity to share a piece of my culture, creating a vibrant and inclusive experience that brought everyone together in the spirit of learning and celebration.
- Attending the Investing in Women Conference, Fuqua Around the World in Boston, and the Private Equity and Venture Capital Conference were all amazing opportunities to learn and grow outside of classes.
- Team dinners became a meaningful tradition during each residency, providing a chance to strengthen our connections and foster camaraderie outside of the classroom. These gatherings create a relaxed atmosphere where we can share experiences, celebrate milestones, and deepen our understanding of one another, ultimately building trust and a stronger sense of teamwork.
- After classes, our "hot girl walks" around the campus have become a fun and refreshing way to unwind while connecting with cohort members. These walks offer a chance to engage in lighthearted conversations, share experiences, and strengthen bonds, all while enjoying the scenic beauty of the campus and re-energizing for the next day.
