Lindsey's note to Jon, "The day Jon met me"

Pictured above is a postcard from Lindsey’s class gift campaign from 2009. In the spirit of the season, this card proves coming to Fuqua can have an impact on your career AND relationships—romantic or otherwise!

How/where did the two of you meet?

Blue Devil weekend at George’s Garage (now closed).

Favorite Fuqua memory that you shared together?

When he surprised me with custom-made “Fuqua Partner” shirts to let me know he was attending Fuqua. GATE trip to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Qatar. Duke versus North Carolina basketball game at Cameron when we painted our faces to fit in with the undergrads. When he proposed at the Washington Duke hotel, I almost ruined the surprise by nearly running into him there earlier that day as he prepared.

Who was the “better student” while at Fuqua?

Jon

What do you do professionally?

Lindsey – Consultant at Acsel Health (pharma), previously Senior Brand Manager at Allergan.

Jon – Healthcare Investment Banker at Greenhill & Co.

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?

Lindsey – Building the commercialization strategy for a launch product.

Jon – Engaging in the dialogue with senior executives of companies that are changing healthcare.

What is the biggest challenge you face?

Jon – Finding the balance.

What sorts of interesting places has your position taken you? Do you have a favorite?

Jon – China (twice), Zurich, Kansas City. Favorite is probably Nashville.

What is the best professional advice you’ve received?

Lindsey – Stay curious.

Jon – It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Better to go for singles and doubles rather than try to hit home runs and strike out.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Lindsey – Play with my kids, cook, Bikram yoga…not much time to expand my hobbies.

Jon – A five year old and a (nearly) three year old are a lot of fun to hang out with.

Why do you support the Fuqua Annual Fund?

Lindsey – Fuqua afforded me the opportunity to make a career change into healthcare; I’ve been fortunate to build my career in pharma through a variety of roles (Consulting, managed care, market research, and marketing).

Jon – Giving back is an important way to recognize the foundation upon which we build our career.
