Happy Birthday!
We asked the alumni below, celebrating a birthday today, March 18, "Where are you now?" Here's what they said...
Brian Ceneviva MBA ‘07
I relocated from Portland, OR, to Greenville, SC, three years ago with my wife and our 3 children. After nearly 8 years with Nike, I am now leading Finance and Operations for the Southern Tide apparel brand. We have enjoyed being closer to friends and family on the east coast over the past couple of years.
Charles Cushman MBA ‘19
I am the managing partner of a small law firm in New Bern, North Carolina: Dunn, Pittman, Skinner & Cushman, PLLC. In my practice, I'm advising a select handful of business clients in a fractional general counsel role. I'm also in the process of getting my first hospitality property up and running—a boutique hotel and restaurant in our historic downtown. We plan to open in early 2022 once this pandemic has (hopefully) subsided. My kids are both in elementary school and have been fortunate to attend in person this year. My wife, Audrey, continues to pursue her career as a plein air oil painter. Cheers and good health to all of Team Fuqua!
Shawn Fields MBA ‘98
I am living in my hometown of NYC with my husband, our two teenagers, and our pug Moxie. Since retiring from my marketing career, I reinvented myself and found my way back to my first love: languages. I am currently teaching Middle School and High School Spanish at Riverdale Country School in the Bronx. I've now been teaching for about 12 years, and it's been a rewarding career change for me. I am also loving giving back to Fuqua as a board member on the Minority Alumni Advisory Board. Wishing all the other Fuqua Pisces a happy birthday!
Fred Hildebrand MBA ‘98
I own and operate Fortify Franchising, a consulting company that coaches prospective entrepreneurs looking to transition into a new opportunity based on interests, lifestyle, and investment level. I live in Phoenix, AZ, with my two teenage sons and our Italian greyhound. Last week, my oldest son, who is a high school sophomore, received his first direct mail piece from Duke! I enjoy fitness, playing guitar with my boys, and I have recently rekindled my interest in piano.
Merideth Kirkland MBA ‘99
I’m enjoying life in the Chicago suburbs with my husband and 13-year-old twin daughters. After 9 years at Abbott in Corporate Finance, I resigned to enjoy a break from the corporate world and COVID came along quickly. The break gave me more time to deal with all of the challenges with remote learning and other pandemic-related things. I recently started a finance consulting role through Salo, which is a talent firm specializing in finance and HR resources. During this past year, we have traded in our family travel adventures for more time playing board games, biking, and watching movies. I also started curling about 7 years ago and have made many good friends through the Chicago Curling Club. I also volunteer for the Crisis Text Line organization, which is a terrific resource for people in need.
Maya Nakhdjavani Rao MBA ‘11
I am based in Dubai and work for FedEx as the Managing Director of Customer Experience, responsible for the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, and Africa. I live here with my husband, Saman, and my 2 sons. My son, Akira, is 22 and pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and my little boy, Arya, is 8 and in year 3. Despite the many lockdowns, we enjoy being together and blessed to be safe and healthy. Wishing all my fellow Blue Devil March babies a very happy birthday!
Anne Njuki MBA ‘12
Hi, Fuqua Friends! After Fuqua, I spent a few years based in Lagos, Nigeria, and criss-crossing Africa with McKinsey. I now live in Nairobi, Kenya, with my family, working with an impact VC fund that invests in social entrepreneurs across East Africa. I’ve spent the last 12 months working from home and playing a good amount of bad golf. As a result, in my spare time I’ve been exploring becoming an entrepreneur myself, as it seems to be the best way to find time to play golf during the week. Overall, despite the pandemic, I’m very grateful to be healthy, happy, and surrounded by family!
Jimmy Norcross MBA ‘96
My wife (Jill Norcross) and I live in Reston, VA. Our sons are both Seniors. One is graduating from Elon University in Broadcast Journalism. Our other son will graduate in June from Herndon High School and go to college this fall. I lead an operating group at CACI in the Washington, D.C., area. My team and I provide mission technology services to the Federal government.
Jaak Roosipuu MBA ‘01
I am originally from Estonia, but I have been living for 15 years in Marbella in Southern Spain and working in real estate finance, specializing in bridge lending solutions for Spanish markets. I try to benefit as much as my work allows from Marbella's warm and sunny weather, perfect for all kind of outdoor activities—running on the beach, playing tennis, etc.
