We asked the alumni below, celebrating a birthday today, August 19, "Where are you now?" Here's what they said...

Harry Arnett MBA ‘01

I’m living in Carlsbad, California, with my wife (Kim Erickson MBA '01), our two teenaged daughters, two dogs, and a cat. I am Co-founder and CEO of the MUNICIPAL brand. Check us out at Municipal.com and feel free to hit me up for discount codes!

Brian Balyeat MBA ’94, PhD ‘98

Currently I am in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I am a Professor of Finance at Xavier University. I am also the faculty mentor for the Xavier women’s Volleyball Team and an avid amateur poker player. While in my PhD program at Duke, I met my now wife, Heather. Heather graduated from Duke in 2000 with a PhD in Biology and is a Senior Teaching professor at Xavier as well. We have two daughters. One will be starting her sophomore year in college (Trinity University in San Antonio) later this month while the other will be a junior in high school.

Yunzhu Chen MMS ‘20

Since graduation, I moved back to my hometown in China to enjoy a brief rest. Then, I started a new journey in Singapore and got my second master’s degree during the past one year. This summer, I left Singapore and moved back to Shanghai, starting a new position in an investment banking division. I hope that I can find the right position and play a role that I really like in the business world. Wish everyone a great summer. Looking forward to reuniting at Fuqua! :)

Ankur Desai MBA ‘11

I now lead Business Development for Blucora, which owns TaxAct and Avantax. I'm also melting away in the Dallas heat with the wife and two kids. Missing my Fuqua teammates!

Kelly Dyer MBA ‘05

I am living at the beach outside of Jacksonville, Forida, and still running the growing software services company I started right after Fuqua, SourceFuse (www.sourcefuse.com). Going from a concept business plan project in the final semester at Fuqua to now a 370-person global technology company has been quite a ride. I also advise other entrepreneurs and have had the good fortune to work with other Fuqua alumni over the years. I have three beautiful little girls, and we are loving the beach life.

Allen Huang MBA ‘21

Hi, Team Fuqua. I’m excited to start my career at Deloitte in Shanghai after graduating in May, focusing on healthcare consulting. This past year has been challenging for many of us; for me, I was quarantined for 35 days during my relocation this summer! But I finally get to meet my wife after a whole year and I’m now settled, ready for my new journey! All the best to August Fuquans. Happy birthday!!

Jasmin Johansen-Hickman MBA ‘19

Hi, Team Fuqua, and happy birthday to all the August Fuqua babies! I recently just moved to the Washington, D.C., area with my family where we’ve been enjoying the summer exploring the city and establishing new roots as first-time home owners. I recently accepted an executive position as Chief of Staff at the Groundwork Collaborative, where I will oversee the overall impact and effectiveness of the organization. 2021 has been a very transitional year for me and my family, so I’m looking forward to getting back into a steady routine again and finally celebrating our long overdue commencement graduation in September!

Pedro Mendonca MBA ‘19

I have moved back to my hometown, São Paulo, Brazil, and took the plunge into entrepreneurship, having founded a boutique fitness company that focuses on outdoor, group-based fitness classes. It is very gratifying to see things really pick up now that the weather is getting better and more and more people are vaccinated! My sister and her fiancée have just started their MBA at Fuqua, so I look forward to being back in Durham and to two more years’ worth of Shooters.

Tim O’Brien MBA ‘00

I've been living in the Boston area since 2006. I'm the Senior Director of Finance at QurAlis, a start-up company working on several potential treatments for ALS. My wife, Whitney, and I are combining a blended family of seven under one roof, but immigration delays have left us in limbo for now, with home bases in Ontario and Massachusetts. I'm still running regularly, just a lot slower than I used to.

Roshal Ramdenee MBA ‘17

After graduating in 2017, I spent a few years working in Finance & Strategy at Microsoft in New York. I then returned to my home country, South Africa, where I now live with my wife, Nikita, and our two dogs (in Johannesburg). It has been wonderful to be home and to be close to the family support system, especially over this past year, through all the lockdowns and ups and downs of Covid. From a work perspective, I have moved back into Financial Services, and I'm now a Partner at Vantage Capital, a mezzanine debt fund focused on supporting mid-size companies achieve their growth ambitions, whilst spending much of my personal time focused on Angel investments across the region.
