Have an Impact
Alumni at Fuqua play an important role in connecting students and other alumni to great career opportunities or serving as a source of information and advice about specific functions or industry sectors. As was likely true of your own decision to pursue a graduate business degree, Fuqua students are driven to make a change. Whether that is to pursue a brand-new direction, advance to the next stage, or start something of their own. Alumni are uniquely positioned to make a difference in each type of journey and don’t necessarily need to be in talent acquisition, be a hiring manager, or own an enterprise. Here are a few ways you can engage and make an impact:
- Be open to connecting with current students or other alumni. This can be as simple as accepting an email request from a current student or alum for an informational meeting. The Career Management Center can also help connect you more formally to be a point of contact for your current organization or a resource for information and advice about a specific function or industry. Conversations can be 1:1 or in small groups.
- Let the Career Management Center know (cmc-info@duke.edu) when you hear about great opportunities for business grads or interns whether it is on your team, in your organization or through someone in your own network. The referrals you make can be posted on our recruiting platform and communicated to specific student groups or alumni through various channels.
- Learn more about all of Fuqua’s talent. Fuqua students and alumni can be found at every career stage, from early-career Analysts to Senior Executives, and represent a diverse global community with experiences in a wide range of job functions and industries. The more you know, the greater your impact.
Be a Recruiting Champion
For alumni that are directly involved with talent acquisition, are hiring managers, who recruit for their own enterprises, or who have an opening on their present team, consider partnering with Fuqua’s Career Management Center to source the talent you need. As a recruiting champion you can:
- Become familiar with the breadth of Fuqua’s talent. The more you know, the better you are able to make connections to the most appropriate recruiters and hiring managers, and help them source great candidates for every level in the organization.
- Post job opportunities on our recruiting platform or reach out directly to the Career Management Center (cmc-info@duke.edu) for help with a targeted search.
- Return to campus to conduct company presentations, hold office hours, attend networking events, and interview students for internships and full-time roles.
